Alimit HEPP, Philippines – Stucky wins feasibility study mandate

Sited on the Luzon archipelago in the Philippines, the 250 MW pumped-storage hydropower plant consists of various reservoirs, diversion channels, dams and hydropower plants. The installation consists of an 80 m-high dam on the Alimit River, which provides a 193 million cubic-meter reservoir to power one 125 MW hydropower plant, and two 125 MW Francis turbines accommodated in a powerhouse cavern.

In addition, an 8-km diversion tunnel with a 12 MW power plant to bridge the height difference feeds water into the Alimit reservoir from the Ibulao River, which flows at a higher altitude than the Alimit. A further higher-altitude reservoir between the Alimit and Ibulao Rivers is connected to the lower reservoir via a steel and concrete-lined high-pressure penstock tunnel.
In 2014, Stucky conducted prefeasibility studies for the pumped-storage and diversion scheme, and has now been commissioned to perform the feasibility studies for the entire hydropower complex.
