on the A4a
As commissioned by the Zofingen office of the FEDRO (Swiss Federal Roads Office), resurfacing work has been carried out on the A4a between Zug and Baar. The area of the A4a to be resurfaced was a 2.8 km stretch between the junctions for Zug and Baar. The measure to replace the surface layer was intended to guarantee traffic safety along the entire route and also negate the need for any further interventions during the useful life until the next scheduled UPlaNS.
The importance of the A4a national freeway between the Blegi interchange, Zug junction and the Baar junction is reflected in the current traffic load. It is also part of the new feeder road into the city center (northern access to Zug) and thus vital to the functionality of the traffic system in the Zug region. The building work therefore required tight and well-coordinated construction phase planning to ensure that traffic restrictions were kept to a minimum. The resurfacing work was carried out in two stages as follows:
- Stage 1: section from Zug junction to Baar junction, two stages each 1,900 m, traffic management 3/1
- Stage 2: section at Baar junction, two stages each 900 m, traffic management 1/1 between Zug junc-tion and the end of the freeway at Walterswil, partial closures of entrance and exit ramps on two weekends.
