Monitoring of Roche Building 40 demolition
Building 40 at F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd's Basel site was demolished to make way for a new production facility.
The centrality of the building, which is surrounded by office blocks and sensitive laboratory facilities, posed a major challenge for the contractors. To minimize operational disruption at the site by the construction works, the foundations of the adjoining buildings were monitored by sensitive vibration sensors. The impact of the works was directly logged and remedial measures taken in case of excessive vibration.
- Vibration monitoring by four sensors
- Monitoring of construction noise
- Alerting of responsible contractors if thresholds were exceeded
By guaranteeing a controlled demolition process with a tolerable level of disturbance, Gruner's monitoring system allows customers to maintain normal business operations at their sites.
