Zielturm Rotsee tower

New Building

The Naturarena Rotsee association is building a new finish tower (Zielturm) for the like-named international rowing regatta venue near Lucerne.

Designed by Fuhrimann Hächler Architekten, the three-story timber structure stands in the Rotsee lake on a concrete slab founded on anchored steel piles. Horizontal stability is guaranteed by underwater steel bracing. Fair-faced concrete was specified for both the base slab and external stairway.

Gruner Berchtold Eicher AG was responsible for the tendering procedure, loadbearing structure, piles and concreting as well as the technical site supervision for the foundation works.

The new tower has won several awards:

  • "best architects 16 in Gold" for architects Andreas Fuhrlimann and Gabrielle Hächler
  • Prix Lignum 2015 (distinction)
