The Mtkvari hydro plant is under construction on the Mtkvari river in Georgia. This scheme has a strategic importance for the development of a stable, reliable, cost-effective and efficient national electricity supply. This article looks at the main features of this project, as well as at the technical solutions that have been taken in the interest of safety, to comply with best international practice.
