Security is an omnipresent need that, fortunately, we often don't have to worry about. In developed societies with their well-developed state systems, efficient authorities and many laws and standards, it is seemingly ever-present. Security begins with recognising dangers and threats as early as possible. They must then be analysed and assessed: How likely are they to occur, what are the potential consequences and what priority do we want to give to these hazards? Appropriate concepts and measures are therefore essential if we are to live in safety.
