Activities & Responsibilities

Gruner Stucky is currently seeking a motivated Dam Engineer to support the development and growth of its Italian Department. 
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in the design, safety assessment, and construction of both embankment and concrete dams, with particular expertise in structural and stability analyses.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful local and international projects, and to play a key role in advancing the field of civil engineering.
  • Lead design activities in dam engineering—covering both embankment and concrete dams—from conceptual design through to construction;
  • Perform dam safety assessments with a focus on hydraulic performance, structural integrity, and overall stability;
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering and modeling teams to produce high-quality project deliverables;
  • Carry out short- to mid-term field assignments as needed.

Requirements profile

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (MSc); a PhD is considered an asset;
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in dam engineering, with a track record of successful local and international projects;
  • Hands-on experience in the conceptual design, detailed design, and construction supervision of dams;
  • Proficiency in static and dynamic analyses of both embankment and concrete dams;
  • Solid knowledge of international standards and guidelines for dam design (e.g., ICOLD, USBR);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Italian and English; proficiency in French is an advantage;
