Gold at the "SwissSkills 2022" vocational championships
Between 7 and 11 September, the Swiss Vocational Championships took place at the BernExpo site. More than 1,000 talented young professionals showed their skills in 150 different apprenticeship trades, while visitors of the event were able to look over their shoulders as they worked. In over 85 championships, the young professionals competed to be crowned the best in their craft. A few key figures:
"120,000 visitors, 87 competitions, 65 vocational demonstrations, 64,000 students - on the 100,000 square metre BernExpo site. An amazing event for vocational education and training!"
Yanic Fürst from Gruner Building Services Berne took part in the Swiss championship for building services planners in ventilation. The competition lasted over two days and required extensive knowledge of the entire activity of the profession. Various calculations had to be carried out, such as air volume, pressure loss and sound calculations, which served as a basis for the correct dimensioning of ducts, fittings and air outlets. Economic aspects, such as construction costs, also played a role and were included in the overall assessment.
"The reason for taking part was the attraction of competing with others from Switzerland and being able to demonstrate what I have learned in front of an audience. In addition, it offers many advantages in my further professional life." - Yanic Fürst
The participation was worth it: FIRST place!
Congratulations to Yanic Fürst on his participation and outstanding performance. Congratulations also to the second and third placed Fabian Biser and Michelle Leber on their super placements!
"The hard work in the apprenticeship has paid off and to be presented with the gold medal in front of many spectators and prominent guests (Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin) is a breathtaking experience. I will always remember it." - Yanic Fürst
