Construction of the new Muttsee dam, Glarus Alps

Construction of the new dam

The Muttsee dam in the Glarus Alps will retain the upper reservoir of the new 1,000-MW "Linthal 2015" pumped-storage hydropower plant. Built from 68 concrete blocks, the 1,050 m gravity wall will be one of the longest in Europe and will triple the capacity of the Muttsse reservoir at 25 millions m3. Acting as part of an engineering consortium, Stucky Ltd was appointed to design this exceptional structure and supervise the on-site works.
