Gruner continues to grow while reducing CO₂ emissions

The 2025 sustainability report shows that Gruner is continuing on its chosen path, growing economically while reducing its emissions.

In 2025, revenue increased to CHF 174 million and the number of employees rose to 1,249. At the same time, CO₂ emissions fell by a further 2 percent to 246 tonnes – a reduction of 32 percent over the past five years. Electricity consumption also decreased by 5.2 percent compared with the previous year.

Lower energy consumption and more electric mobility

Further progress was also made in reducing energy consumption: heat consumption fell by 9.5 percent in 2025, with 74 percent of heat coming from non-fossil sources. At the same time, Gruner is increasingly focusing on climate-friendly mobility. Of its 101 vehicles, 32 are now electric, while travelling by rail helped avoid around 80 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

Sustainability beyond our own operations

Gruner’s projects therefore play a crucial role for greater sustainability. Resource-efficient construction and sustainable solutions are incorporated into planning from the outset. Developments such as Gruner ReUse, for example, help make reusable building components available for new construction projects.

Gruner also makes sustainability a priority as an employer. Training and professional development opportunities, targeted talent management and initiatives such as healthy@gruner, the Grunerinnen network and Next Generation support health, development and equal opportunities at Gruner.
