Refurbishment and new construction at Liebrüti, Kaiseraugst
Fire safety planning for the development of the Liebrüti residential and shopping centre
Liebrüti in Kaiseraugst combines residential living, shopping and a variety of services in one location. The development of the residential and shopping centre includes both extensive refurbishment of the existing buildings and the new “Domus” development. This brings together different building structures and uses, resulting in correspondingly high fire safety requirements.
Within the existing centre, the focus is on refurbishing the swimming pool and retail areas as well as redesigning spaces for services and storage. The centre is complemented by a car park and the new “Domus” development. The approximately 20-storey residential building with 125 apartments is directly integrated into the existing building complex.
This close connection between the existing structures and the new building makes fire safety planning particularly challenging. Different uses, building heights and structural conditions need to be brought together and coordinated within an overarching concept.
Gruner is responsible for QS3 fire safety expertise throughout SIA phases 31 to 53. The services include the development of the fire safety concept as well as the design of the smoke extraction and fire control systems. The aim is to provide an integrated solution that addresses the different requirements of the individual building areas while considering the site as a whole.
Fire safety planning therefore provides an important foundation for the interaction between the existing buildings, refurbishment and new construction, contributing to the safe and long-term use of Liebrüti.
