Innovator of the Year Award: Great Ideas Are Only the Beginning

The best ideas are those that create tangible value and make their way into implementation. It was precisely this practical relevance that particularly impressed Kathrin Schwan, Managing Director Lead AI & Data at Accenture DACH and jury member of the Gruner Innovator of the Year Award 2025.

“Being part of the jury for the Gruner Innovator of the Year Award was a truly enriching experience,” she says. She was especially impressed by the high quality and diversity of the submitted ideas, as well as the clear structure and professionalism of the entire process. “The organization provided outstanding support to the jury throughout the process – many thanks for that.”

Ideas with Tangible Added Value

Kathrin Schwan found those submissions particularly exciting that were already able to demonstrate a clear benefit for Gruner. Examples include the AI-powered project assistant “GruBo,” the winning project, as well as approaches involving prefabrication and modular construction. These are ideas that are not only innovative but also closely aligned with practical business needs.

From Ideas to Impact

Kathrin Schwan’s key takeaway as a juror is: “An early assessment of whether an idea already exists outside of Gruner, combined with a consistent focus on implementation, is crucial. Genuine innovation emerges where great ideas are successfully turned into reality.”

This is exactly what the Innovator of the Year Award is designed to enable: making ideas visible, supporting their further development, and maintaining a clear focus on their practical value. In this way, innovations can emerge that have the potential to create real value for Gruner, its customers, and the industry as a whole.
