2022

At Schilthorn - Piz Gloria, once a film set for James Bond, a complete renewal of the Schilthornbahn is imminent. Gruner is responsible for sustainable building services in the mountain stations.

On October the 24th 2022, the Nurek Hydropower Rehabilitation Project reached an important milestone during Phase I of the project. The first of three units to be rehabilitated during this phase was put into operation on by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon during an official ceremony.

As of January 1st, 2022, Gruner and Stucky are united under the Gruner brand. To bring the brand closer to the French-speaking population of Switzerland, Gruner is launching an advertising campaign as of October 2022.

The Eidgenössische Schwing- und Älplerfest (ESAF) Pratteln in the Baselbiet is already over a month ago. 400,000 visitors made the pilgrimage to Pratteln at the end of August 2022 to experience the important Swiss sporting event at first hand. As a wreath partner, Gruner accompanied the festival with consulting and planning services in the areas of risk management, crowd management and evacuation.

On Saturday 20.08.2022, KWO, the owner of the new Spitallamm dam construction site organized an open day. 3,000 people registered for the day, and so, many curious people had the opportunity to see the construction site up close. 

Gruner now has two recognised soil experts in its own ranks and is thus officially certified.

This fully bilingual international conference focuses on research and actions in the service of rivers. It aims to foster a cross-fertilisation of approaches and a dialogue between all stakeholders.

The 27th ICOLD Congress, the 90th ICOLD annual meeting and also of the Symposium organized by the French Committee (CFBR) are being held concurrently in Marseille France and Gruner Stucky Ltd, a leading engineering consulltancy in dam and hydropower engineering is present. 

The first Architekturwoche Basel (AWB) is very well received, as can be seen from the official visitor figures. At Gruner, we are also pleased with a successful evening as part of the "gatherING." in the Klybeck canteen.

The new edition of the MAILING. 32 customer magazine is dedicated to the topic of sustainability. This is a very important topic, especially in view of the fact that planning and construction are relatively slow and resource-intensive processes that usually last several years.

This year, the Architekturwoche Basel will take place for the first time from May 9-15, 2022. The new format serves as a biennial platform for architecture and urban development. Gruner is taking part in the Open Office.

The Aiguillon railway bridge was completed  in July 2021 using reinforced Ultra-High-Performance Fiber-Reinforced Cementitious Composite (UHPFRC). This successful construction  confirms the potential and perspective of the appication of UHPFRC material for the construction of new structural elements for infrastructure projects.

How accurate are satellite-derived water quality data? And how do they benefit hydropower managers and dam designers aiming for smart monitoring and sediment release? Following a first preview in December 2021, we dive deeper into the new HYPOS portal - a toolbox for space-based information on reservoirs and river environments – on 31st March 2022.

Gruner is currently implementing the first legal reorganization since Gruner AG was founded over 50 years ago. The aim is to simplify the structure and internal cooperation in order to be able to develop faster and more comprehensive customer solutions.

We are pleased to announce that our services in the field of fire protection are now reinforced in French-speaking Switzerland with the creation of a dedicated team in our Lausanne office led by Mr. Jérome Morel, head of the fire protection division.

As of January 1st, 2022, Gruner and Stucky operate under the single Gruner brand. Stucky joined Gruner nine years ago.

Gruner anchors Human Resources (HR) as a new area directly within the Executive Committee. Monica Schneider, a proven expert in human resources and Head of HR at Gruner, joins the Executive Committee on January 1, 2022.

Since December 1, 2021, Ivan Jovanic leads the Gruner Business Unit Structural design Zurich, Brugg. 

We are taking the next step in the Bern region by acquiring Zeltner Ingenieure AG in Belp as of January 1, 2022. This expansion in the Business Area Infrastructure will enable us to expand and strengthen our range of services in a meaningful way, both geographically and in terms of expertise.

Grosspeter Tower: Performance GAP analysis with simulations

On Friday, October 1, the institute and course directors of the School of Architecture, Civil and Geomatic Engineering FHNW graduated their former students. The Gruner Innovation Award, endowed with CHF 500, is presented annually to graduates of the Institute of Civil Engineering at the FHNW.

The award is given to the most innovative bachelor thesis.

Simulations as a Game Changer in the Construction Process: How Covid-19 Changed the Requirements

The latest issue of the customer magazine Mailing. 31 focuses on the topic of collaboration. An increasingly important topic that has become even more difficult, especially in the Corona pandemic. 

On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, the National Day, the "Swiss window" of the event, will take place at the Digital Construction Event of buildingSMART International. Gruner will be present when discussions on various key topics take place at virtual round tables and participants discuss questions raised in keynote speeches.

With the successful completion of the transaction at the end of January and the recent publication of the extract from the commercial register, we are definitively taking over Basler & Hofmann West AG with retroactive effect from January 1, 2021.

Stucky Ltd has been identified as a “Key Innovator” by European Commission for our contribution in the HYPOS project 

We are expanding in the market. With retroactive effect from January 1, 2021, we are taking over Basler & Hofmann West AG, based in Zollikofen, from Basler & Hofmann Holding AG. This will significantly expand our market position in the Berne area.

Gruner was able to accompany the planning and execution of the new home of FC Lausanne-Sport with our specialists in the field of stadium security.

2020

Every year, the Gruner Innovation Award for graduates of the Institute of Civil Engineering at the FHNW, which is endowed with 500 CHF, is awarded. The most innovative Bachelor thesis is awarded.

The Gruner Business Unit Infrastructure Zurich, Brugg designed and planned the recently officially inaugurated Herweg bridge as part of the Limmattalbahn project.

It's there: the Stucky branch in Fribourg, Switzerland. On April 1, employees of the Business Unit Infrastructure Western Switzerland began working at a central location near the Fribourg train station.

A great deal of management and industry experience for Gruner: Stephan Gürtler is the new Head of the Buildings business area and successor to Kurt Rau at Gruner since May 2, 2020. 

With the Eglisau bypass, the government council wants to noticeably relieve the affected population from transit traffic. On behalf of the Department of Economic Affairs, various solutions for a new road bridge over the Rhine were therefore developed in a competitive process.
