Partial repair of the Gänziloo police firing range

The Business Unit Infrastructure Zurich, Brugg built an emission-free bullet trap for the police shooting range Gänziloo starting in summer 2019. The city of Zurich was obligated in this regard due to the requirement of the canton (AWEL, section for contaminated sites). The aim was to maintain the shooting range in operation for the training and further education of the Zurich city police from 2021.

Uninterrupted shooting training and further training of the Zurich City Police had to be taken into account during construction. This challenge could be met with constructional measures, such as temporary screens on the dam crests between the shooting ranges and a trenchless excavation of the drainage pipe. In addition, the tight schedule was met thanks to interdisciplinary cooperation with the Business Unit Infrastructure Basel, Environment.

The facility was handed over to the client on schedule and with the high satisfaction at the end of 2020.
