Natural hazard maps for
Gruner Böhringer AG was commissioned by the Canton of Thurgau Environment Office to prepare natural hazard maps for 36 municipalities in the western part of the canton. The risks posed by water and landslips were analyzed and assessed. In addition to standard fieldwork, 2D modeling was used to determine the floodways. The main deliverables, apart from flood intensity maps, comprised water and landslip hazard maps. These pinpoint the locations where built-up areas are threatened by flooding, bank erosion or landslips. The follow-up stage involved proposing measures to eliminate or mitigate the hazards. Action planning.
