Mühleteich Riehen
Reconstruction of bridge, new construction of embankment walls
In order to improve the flow, the civil engineering office of Basel wanted the bridge over the Mühleteich to be rebuilt. The supporting structure was to be retained. By removing the median wall, the risk of clogging was to be reduced. For this purpose, the existing two-span continuous girder support system had to be converted into a single-span system. Using shape memory reinforcement (re-fer), the structure was prestressed to avoid deformations and cracks due to load redistribution and to increase the load-bearing capacity accordingly.
increase.
Furthermore, existing bank walls were replaced with reinforced concrete structures as part of the project.
