Repair of Glattal and Weissenbach viaduct

The repair of the two natural stone viaducts Glattal- and Weissenbachviadukt of the Schweizerische Südostbahn AG (SOB), which date back to 1910 and are each approx. 300 m long, was carried out simultaneously. In an early phase, the cover stones were realigned in accordance with the specifications of the monument preservation authorities. The main construction work on the ballast trough took place during a 5-week full closure of the train line. The existing ballast trough was demolished while preserving the original bracket and cover stones, and was rebuilt including a waterproofing system. The drainage system was completely renewed. The joints of the natural stone masonry were extensively repaired. At pier IV of the Weissenbach viaduct, pins were placed crosswise to stabilize the cracks.
